How to Install Additional Braille Languages in Dotscan

  1. The additional languages are normally supplied as a zip file containing multiple *.blf files (Braille Language File), Or *.bll files for newer Systems.

  2. Extract the *.blf \ *.bll files to a convenient location (eg a Desktop folder).

  3. Start the Dotscan application and log in as the Administrator user. To do this, select the Administrator login from the User pulldown list.

  4. Click Settings and select Import Braille Language.

  5. Navigate to the folder where you saved the additional languages and select one of the *.blf \*.bll files. Click Open to import the file.

  6. If the installation was successful, you'll receive a message stating "Importing language was successful." Repeat the process until all the *.blf \ *.bll files have been successfully imported.

  7. Click Read and check the contents of the Language pulldown list to confirm that all expected languages are available.

  8. If you encounter any error messages or compatibility issues during the installation process, refer to the Dotscan user manual.

  9. Click Cancel and select the User menu.

  10. Pick Logout to return to the Dotscan login screen.

  11. Pick the Operator login from the User pulldown list to continue as the regular Dotscan user.
